Volleyball Game Preview: Lewistown Indians vs. Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats

The Lewistown Indians will head out to square off against the Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, Lewistown came up short against West Prairie and fell 2-0. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: West Prairie scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cuba/Spoon River Valley took on Illini Bluffs on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Cuba/Spoon River Valley sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-18.

Cuba/Spoon River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Lewistown, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-13.

Lewistown came out on top in a nail-biter against Cuba/Spoon River Valley when the teams last played back in September, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
