Baseball Recap: Episcopal Academy Comes Up Short

Episcopal Academy blew Penncrest out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Penncrest got their revenge. The Episcopal Academy Churchmen fell just short of the Penncrest Lions by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Churchmen have suffered since April 23, 2024.

Episcopal Academy got a good showing from Matt Roberts, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Roberts gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Episcopal Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Virbitsky, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those two hits gave Virbitsky a new career-high.

Episcopal Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Episcopal Academy will be playing at home against Coatesville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Penncrest, they will square off against Harriton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup will give Penncrest their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
