Baseball Recap: Wabasha-Kellogg Drops Highest Score of Season Against St. Charles

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wabasha-Kellogg). They blew past the St. Charles Fighting Saints 13-3 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Jake Hill was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Garret Pavelka was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Cole Scheel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Wabasha-Kellogg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Wabasha-Kellogg's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for St. Charles, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

Wabasha-Kellogg didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-14 defeat against Liberty Classical Academy on the 10th. As for St. Charles, they will challenge Chatfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
