Basketball Recap: Rocky River Falls Despite Big Games from Jordan Walton and Jayden Ross

Rocky River lost against Providence back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rocky River Ravens fell 76-63 to the Providence Panthers.

Jayden Ross and Jordan Walton certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ross posted 19 points, while Walton had 11 points in addition to six assists and five steals. With that strong performance, Walton is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Myles Linton was another key player, putting up three points along with five assists, five boards, and four steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Rocky River was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Providence only posted seven assists.

Providence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Liam Drayton, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Drayton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Latimer Taylor, who earned 24 points.

Rocky River's record now sits at 9-12. As for Providence, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16.

Rocky River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-49 loss against Independence on the 11th. As for Providence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-32 win against Garinger on the 11th.
