Softball Game Preview: Madison Cubs vs. Oldham County Colonels

The Madison Cubs will venture away from home to face off against the Oldham County Colonels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Madison nor Oldham County posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Madison came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-0 to Floyd Central. The Cubs have struggled against the Highlanders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Oldham County faced Greenwood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Colonels took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gators. It was the first time this season that the Colonels let down their fans at home.

Jozie Lashley was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Lori Edgar was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Oldham County suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 23-6. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
