Baseball Game Preview: Menendez Falcons vs. Matanzas Pirates

Menendez has gone 8-2 against Matanzas recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Menendez will head out to take on Matanzas at 6:00 p.m. Matanzas took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Menendez, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Menendez made easy work of Rickards and carried off a 10-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

The team relied heavily on Brooks Cornelison, who scored two runs and stole four bases. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Liam Crocker also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Matanzas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Vanguard. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by just one run.

Matanzas saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Pandich, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another was Dioz Cruz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Even though they lost, Matanzas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matchups.

Menendez's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Matanzas, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Everything went Menendez's way against Matanzas in their previous matchup back in February, as Menendez made off with a 9-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Menendez since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
