Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Emma Roche and Leila Gonzalez Lead East Wake Academy to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Falls Lake, East Wake Academy was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Eno River Academy Bobcats by a score of 36-25. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-35 back in November.

Leading East Wake Academy to victory were Leila Gonzalez and Emma Roche. Gonzalez dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards, while Roche dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Those ten rebounds gave Gonzalez a new career-high.

East Wake Academy's record now sits at 5-2. As for Eno River Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Wake Academy will venture away from home to square off against American Leadership Academy-Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Wake Academy is facing American Leadership Academy-Johnston at the right time seeing as American Leadership Academy-Johnston is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Eno River Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Cedar Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
