Soccer Game Preview: Newman Catholic vs. Gresham Community

The Newman Catholic Fighting Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Gresham Community Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Newman Catholic's offense. They fell just short of Tri-County by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that Newman Catholic have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Gresham Community also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 7-0 to Amherst on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Gresham Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin soccer rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Amherst are ranked 96th).

Gresham Community's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17-1. As for Newman Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Newman Catholic took their victory against Gresham Community in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 6-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
