Basketball Game Preview: Evangel Christian Academy Eagles vs. Las Animas Trojans

The Evangel Christian Academy Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Las Animas Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Evangel Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Hanover to the tune of 61-6 on Tuesday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Hornets are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evangel Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anna Stonestreet, who posted 11 points and four steals. Stonestreet is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Mia Castro was another key player, putting up ten points and seven steals.

Meanwhile, Las Animas posted their biggest win since December 6, 2024 on Thursday. They blew past Swallows Charter Academy 43-21. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-10.

Evangel Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Las Animas, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
