Softball Game Preview: Nimitz Vikings vs. Arlington Colts

The Nimitz Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Arlington Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nimitz is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Nimitz's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Lake Highlands 15-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Nimitz got a massive performance out of Dani Maloney, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Maloney is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Victoria Edwards, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Nimitz always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Highlands only posted an OBP of .182.

Meanwhile, Arlington unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Martin, falling 12-5.

Nimitz's record now sits at 7-14. As for Arlington, their loss dropped their record down to 17-9.

Nimitz couldn't quite finish off Arlington when the teams last played back in April of 2023 and fell 6-4. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
