Basketball Recap: Montezuma Skates Past H-L-V with Ease

Montezuma waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the H-L-V Warriors 71-33. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Warriors are ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Montezuma's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for H-L-V, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Montezuma will head out to take on Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for H-L-V, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Iowa Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Iowa Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully H-L-V likes a good challenge.
