Basketball Recap: Foundation Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Riley Michels and Alex Nichols

Foundation Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders at home by a 60-43 margin on Tuesday. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Highlanders from their previous meeting back in January of 2023.

Despite the loss, Foundation Academy had strong showings from Alex Nichols, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points, and Riley Michels, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and five blocks. The game was Nichols' 12th in a row with at least ten points.

Michael Madueme was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds for Lake Highland Prep. The dominant performance gave Madueme a new career-high in points. RJ Ingram was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six boards and five steals.

Foundation Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8. As for Lake Highland Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Foundation Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Mater Brighton Lakes Academy on the 30th. As for Lake Highland Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-48 win against Lake Brantley on the 31st.
