Baseball Game Preview: Lanier Longhorns vs. Milton Eagles

For the second straight game, Lanier will face off against Milton. The Longhorns will host the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lanier has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while Milton will come in with five straight victories.

Lanier came up short against Milton on Monday, falling 8-1.

Lanier got a good showing from Lawson Smithers, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Smithers a new career-low.

At the plate, Lanier saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Perez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Milton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-12. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Lanier, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-18.
