Volleyball Recap: Roger Bacon Takes a Loss

Roger Bacon entered their contest against Bishop Fenwick on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

While Roger Bacon was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Bishop Fenwick's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-21, 26-24.

Andrew Weigand paced Roger Bacon's offense, picking up 19 kills. Weigand got some help from Alex Weigand and his 23 assists. Alex was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Roger Bacon and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for Bishop Fenwick, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Roger Bacon will take on Badin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Bishop Fenwick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
