Basketball Game Preview: Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers vs. Trinity Lutheran Cougars

The Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers will square off against the Trinity Lutheran Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Trinity Lutheran took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Shawe Memorial, who comes in off a win.

Shawe Memorial is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 74-35 victory over Rising Sun. Given the Hilltoppers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Shiners are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Trinity Lutheran ended up a good deal behind Madison on Thursday and lost 61-45.

Despite the loss, Trinity Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Marley Warren posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Bonde, who scored eight points.

Shawe Memorial pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Trinity Lutheran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

Shawe Memorial strolled past Trinity Lutheran in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 66-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shawe Memorial since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
