Baseball Recap: Atascadero Drops Season-High Score on Garfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atascadero). They blew past the Garfield Bulldogs 14-6 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Atascadero got a great performance from Wyatt Azelton as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Evan Churchill was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Weston Witt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Atascadero always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Atascadero back to even at 9-9. As for Garfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Atascadero will square off against Millikan at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Garfield, they will face off against El Diamante at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
