Baseball Recap: Buckhannon-Upshur Takes a Loss

Buckhannon-Upshur was the 12-1 winner over Herbert Hoover when they last played one another back in March of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Bucaneers took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Friday. Even though they lost, the Bucaneers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Brody McDaniels made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Buckhannon-Upshur's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jaxon Spratt, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Buckhannon-Upshur has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Herbert Hoover, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

Buckhannon-Upshur wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-2 loss against Spring Valley on the 9th. As for Herbert Hoover, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-10 win against Nitro on the 11th.
