Softball Recap: Salem Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Salem not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25th (when they won 12-1). They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Wesclin Warriors. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Salem got a massive performance out of Emily Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Jones a new career-high. Emma Lipe was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Salem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory (which was Salem's third in a row) raised their record to 11-18. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wesclin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-23 record this season.

Salem and Wesclin are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wildcats will square off against Breese Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wesclin, they will take on Marquette Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
