Recap: Life Prep Fire vs. Garden City Buffaloes
The Life Prep Fire's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to Garden City. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Life Prep came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Garden City is ranked 130th).
Life Prep lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Arthur Videira, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Carlos Dawkins, who scored 11 points.
Life Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Garden City, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Life Prep is on the road again on Friday and plays Grind Prep at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Grind Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 345 points over their last five matches. As for Garden City, they will be playing at home against Liberal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Liberal focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
