Game recap

Washington-Lee (Arlington, Va.) and Fairfax (Va.) both received superb games from their defenses, but Washington-Lee was able to break through the stalemate for a 13-7 win.

The Generals scored on two passing touchdowns to secure the victory.

The score was knotted at seven heading into the half. Washington-Lee took the lead for good on a passing touchdown with 3:00 remaining in the third quarter.

The result came as a big surprise as the Rebels came in ranked No. 181 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Virginia, while WL was ranked No. 265.

Fairfax's lone touchdown came on a 57-yard run in the second quarter.

The Arlington school got revenge for last year's 45-32 loss to FHS with the victory.

The victory was a step in the right direction for the Generals, which was coming off a 14-12 defeat at the hands of McLean in its previous game. The loss comes after Fairfax defeated Annandale 29-19 last week.

Fairfax (1-1) goes up against McLean in a AAA Liberty game matchup next week, while Washington-Lee (1-1) locks horns with Edison in a AAA National game.
