Troy Christian and Riverside are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Troy Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Troy Christian's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Milton-Union. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Judah Simmons made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Troy Christian is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise. Simmons was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Twiss, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Landon Day was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Riverside had just enough and edged out Jackson Center 4-3 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.
Gavin Orsborne was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Troy Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Troy Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Troy Christian took their victory against Riverside in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-9 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
