Softball Game Preview: Georgetown-Ridge Farm Buffaloes vs. Blue Ridge Knights

The Georgetown-Ridge Farm Buffaloes will venture away from home to challenge the Blue Ridge Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm fell victim to Hoopeston and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 12-0 to the Cornjerkers. The Buffaloes have struggled against the Cornjerkers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annistyn Tovey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Blue Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Cumberland, falling 20-10.

Lillian Enger was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Stiger, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Blue Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Buffaloes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Blue Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Georgetown-Ridge Farm continue to outrun the ball?

Georgetown-Ridge Farm couldn't quite finish off Blue Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Buffaloes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
