Basketball Game Preview: Muncie Central Bearcats vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

Muncie Central hasn't had much luck against Greenfield-Central recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Muncie Central Bearcats take on the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 7:30 p.m.

Last Saturday, Muncie Central came up short against Westfield and fell 46-33. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 11th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Lj Strange, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Landen Wells, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-40 win over the Arabians. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-22.

Greenfield-Central's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Muncie Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.
