Basketball Recap: Mcconnellsburg Picks Up 11th Straight Win on the Road

McConnellsburg lost to North Star back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The McConnellsburg Spartans secured a 45-40 W over the North Star Cougars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

McConnellsburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden Ramsey, who posted 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Ramsey is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. Hoyt Glenn was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why North Star lost, don't look at Andy Retassie. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 15 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 50% of North Star's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Smith, who had six points and five assists.

McConnellsburg's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for North Star, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

McConnellsburg will head out to square off against Northern Bedford County at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. McConnellsburg's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Northern Bedford County's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for North Star, they will take on Turkeyfoot Valley Area in a tournament on Friday.
