Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Find Success

Mt. Vernon lost to NorthWood back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Marauders walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Marauders.

Jaycee Jones paced Mt. Vernon's offense, picking up ten kills. Jones got some help from Sophie Rahmany and her 16 assists.

NorthWood's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nola Nephew, who had ten digs and one assist. Abby Schmucker was another key player, getting five digs and two aces.

Mt. Vernon's record now sits at 19-9. As for NorthWood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-14.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Mt. Vernon will take on Pendleton Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for NorthWood, they will head out to take on South Bend Saint Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
