Basketball Recap: Evie Hoppe and Gabby Gallego Secure Win for Divine Savior Academy

It's playoff time, and Divine Savior Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Scheck Hillel Community School Lions on Thursday, sneaking past 34-32. The win continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Leading Divine Savior Academy to victory were Gabby Gallego and Evie Hoppe. Gallego dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards, while Hoppe went 6 for 12 on her way to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Gallego also grabbed seven steals, which is notable because Divine Savior Academy is 2-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 4-8 otherwise.

Divine Savior Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Divine Savior Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Scheck Hillel Community School, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
