Softball Recap: St. Bonaventure Extends Winning Streak to Four

St. Bonaventure had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Bishop Diego Cardinals as they made off with a 15-3 win. The Seraphs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

St. Bonaventure let Hudson Ortiz and Maci Schotten run wild. Ortiz scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Schotten scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Schotten a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Laura Lynch, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

St. Bonaventure was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in four consecutive games.

St. Bonaventure now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Bishop Diego, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Bonaventure will take on Foothill Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Seraphs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bishop Diego, they will square off against Santa Barbara at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
