Preview: Devine Warhorses vs. Carrizo Springs Wildcats
Devine has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Carrizo Springs Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Devine took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 66-37 victory over Uvalde. Given Devine's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Uvalde is ranked 1341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Even though Carrizo Springs has not done well against Pleasanton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Carrizo Springs secured a 51-45 W over Pleasanton. The win made it back-to-back wins for Carrizo Springs.
Carrizo Springs found their leader in underclassman Melanie Davila, who scored 20 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Davila has scored at least 25% of Carrizo Springs' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adisyn Reyes, who scored ten points.
Devine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Carrizo Springs, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7.
Devine strolled past Carrizo Springs in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 52-35. Does Devine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carrizo Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
