Basketball Recap: Memphis Takes a Loss

Memphis won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 62-34 loss at the hands of the Clarendon Broncos. The Cyclones were not able to make up for their defeat to the Broncos from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Memphis' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Armando Saenz, who posted 13 points and five rebounds, and Isaiah Martinez, who earned nine points. That was a full 38.2% of Memphis' points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Memphis has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Clarendon, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-9.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Panhandle the next time they take the court. Memphis will head out to face Panhandle at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, while Clarendon will head out to face them at 7:45 p.m. on January 14th.
