Recap: John Adams Academy Patriots vs. Fortune Early College Panthers
The John Adams Academy Patriots pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 93-59 loss at the hands of Fortune Early College. While losing is never fun, John Adams Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1135th, while Fortune Early College is ranked 483rd).
Isaiah McKee and Josh Harris certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. McKee dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Harris dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor McCoy, who scored six points along with five steals.
Leading Fortune Early College to victory were Omarion Davis and Darien Taubodo. Davis scored 18 points, while Taubodo scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that Taubodo scored 15 or more points. Elijah Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
John Adams Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Fortune Early College, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.
John Adams Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pine Hills Adventist at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. Hopefully Pine Hills Adventist focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Monday. As for Fortune Early College, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Westlake Charter at 7:30 p.m. Westlake Charter is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.5 points per game.
