Basketball Recap: Fairview Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Fairview Knights ended up a good deal behind the Frederick Golden Eagles and lost 52-38. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 32nd).

Despite the defeat, Fairview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chloe Hickory went 11-for-17 to rack up 29 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hickory has scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frederick to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rylee Gallegos, who went 5-for-8 en route to 15 points. Gallegos is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Zoe Wittler was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Fairview's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Frederick, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.

Fairview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-22 defeat against Broomfield on the 21st. As for Frederick, they have also already played their next matchup, a 53-35 win against Longmont on the 21st.
