Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Chatfield

There's no place like home for Chatfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Pacifica Mariners on Tuesday. While the Chargers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Isaac Low made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Chatfield let Brady Harman and Colin Metz run wild. Harman scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Metz scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Harman also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Banning Low was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Chatfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.

Chatfield's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Pacifica, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatfield will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mountain Vista at 4:00 p.m. on March 28th. Chatfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Pacifica, they will take on Mission Viejo at 3:15 p.m. on March 25th.
