Basketball Recap: Yucca Valley Comes Up Short

Yucca Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Center Jaguars.

Valley Center had a senior duo take command as Lincoln Zetmeir posted 25 points and five steals and Dustin Hotchkiss dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Zetmeir has scored at least a third of Valley Center's points. Mitchell Stehly was another key player, putting up six points.

Yucca Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Valley Center, they moved to 4-11 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yucca Valley will face off against Indio at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Valley Center, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
