Baseball Game Preview: Rantoul Eagles vs. Clinton Maroons

The Rantoul Eagles will face off against the Clinton Maroons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rantoul will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating St. Thomas More, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles came out on top against the Sabers by a score of 7-4 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Levi Duitsman was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Rantoul: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Dayton Wilson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Clinton never let their opponents score on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Riverton. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Maroons.

Clinton's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaeden Bell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Rantoul's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-8. As for Clinton, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
