Soccer Game Preview: Wesson vs. Loyd Star

The Wesson Cobras will head out to face off against the Loyd Star Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Wesson headed into their last matchup having not scored more than one goal for three straight, but West Lincoln let them put that streak behind them. Wesson never let West Lincoln onto the board and left with a 4-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Cobras' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Loyd Star entered their tilt with Bogue Chitto on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victor by a 4-0 margin over the Bobcats. Considering the Hornets have won five contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Bogue Chitto with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Cooper Creel, Mason Smith, Dalexis Gonzalez, and Kaleb Waldrop.

Loyd Star is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those eight matchups. As for Wesson, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.
