The Maranacook Black Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Mount Abram Roadrunners at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Maranacook barely beat Mount View the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Black Bears put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-1 win on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Black Bears sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Noah Longfellow made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Walker Dumas and Caldre Glowa did most of the damage at the plate: Dumas went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Glowa went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Glowa a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Hreben, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Maranacook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mount Abram got the win against Madison on Wednesday by a conclusive 9-1. The Roadrunners haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Like Maranacook, Mount Abram also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaiden Longley. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Longley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Killian Pillsbury, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
Maranacook's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Mount Abram, their record is now 10-3.
Maranacook beat Mount Abram 5-2 in their previous matchup back in June of 2022. Do the Black Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roadrunners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
