Basketball Game Preview: Naples Classical Academy vs. Donahue Catholic Shamrocks

Naples Classical hasn't had much luck against Donahue Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Naples Classical Academy will square off against the Donahue Catholic Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m.

Naples Classical is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They were beaten by Neumann 79-36. The Academy were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-16.

Meanwhile, Donahue Catholic came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 68-55 victory over the Celtics.

Donahue Catholic's win came from a few key players Naples Classical will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jack Kadlec, who went 7 of 9 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Loboda, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Donahue Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Naples Classical, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Naples Classical was taken down by Donahue Catholic 74-31 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can Naples Classical avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
