Basketball Recap: New Covenant School's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but New Covenant School unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Temple Christian Academy Warriors by a score of 52-49. If the Cavaliers were looking for revenge after losing 62-43 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Fulmer, who went 8 for 16 en route to 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Fulmer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Charlie Cothran, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.

Leading Temple Christian Academy to victory were Ethan Moses and Luke Passetti. Moses posted 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Passetti went 9 for 19 en route to 22 points in addition to eight steals and five boards. Moses' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Carter Hall was another key player, putting up six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

New Covenant School's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for Temple Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Covenant School will challenge Hampton Park Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hampton Park Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season. As for Temple Christian Academy, they will take on Oakwood Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight defeats, while Temple Christian Academy will come in with three straight victories.
