Basketball Recap: The Villages Charter Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Villages Charter walked away with it. They secured a 54-50 W over the Tampa Catholic Crusaders on Thursday. For the Buffalo, this counts as revenge for the 61-45 victory the Crusaders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

It was another big night for Zion Mcrae, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 21 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Eva Mann, who posted 12 points.

The Villages Charter is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points over those games. As for Tampa Catholic, they dropped their record down to 17-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, The Villages Charter will square off against Windermere Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Windermere Prep sitting on three straight wins and The Villages Charter on five. Tampa Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
