Baseball Game Preview: Page Pirates vs. Northern Guilford Nighthawks

Page hasn't had much luck against Northern Guilford recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. Page is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Page lost 8-1 to Burlington Christian Academy on Wednesday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Page saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Grieco, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Northern Guilford beat Page 6-1 on Tuesday. The Nighthawks haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

John Yarnovich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jorge Torres, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Elijah Breedlove was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Northern Guilford pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Page, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
