Football Recap: Edison Takes a Loss

Edison fell victim to JSerra Catholic and their airtight defense on Saturday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 25-0. Having soared to a lofty 52 points in the game before, the Chargers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Avea Niumata threw for 47 yards on seven of 14 attempts.

JSerra Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Meier, who threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of her passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Meier a new career-high in passer rating (154.4). Tessa Russell was another key pass catcher, picking up 78 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Edison's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for JSerra Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Edison has already played their next match, a 41-0 victory against La Habra on the 6th. As for JSerra Catholic, they will square off against Yorba Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' defense has only allowed 14 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them.
