Softball Recap: Lorena Continues Road Dominance on Monday

Lorena's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the China Spring Cougars. This was a revenge game for the Leopards: when they faced off against the Cougars last Tuesday, they had to take a 8-1 defeat.

Lorena got a great performance from Kacie Brown as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Brown has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brooklynn Rodriguez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Lorena pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for China Spring, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-8 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lorena will challenge Connally at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for China Spring, they will take on Gatesville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
