The result came thanks to Joseph Rumbaoa's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Laguna Creek is 8-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-8 otherwise.
At the plate, KJ Winn was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyger Peterson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Laguna Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Rodriguez came out on top against Oakland Tech on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Mustangs skirted past the Bulldogs 7-6.
Austin Krebs looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Gideon Mayo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Ben Vaughn was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.
Laguna Creek has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Rodriguez, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.
