The Pasco Pirates will square off against the Weeki Wachee Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pasco is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Pasco is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over Hudson. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Cobras: they've now won nine in a row.

Carson Wheatley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Yeceil 'JJ' Lisojo was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March.
Meanwhile, Weeki Wachee got themselves on the board against Central on Wednesday, but Central never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 6-0 win. The game was the first time the Hornets have beaten the Bears on their field since April 15, 2022.
The result came thanks to Jack Strong's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Barnum, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
The victory made it two in a row for Weeki Wachee and bumps their season record up to 15-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Pasco, their record is now 13-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pasco has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Weeki Wachee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Pasco couldn't quite finish off Weeki Wachee in their previous matchup back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
