Football Recap: Royce Jenkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hagerty over Oviedo

Hagerty lost against Oviedo back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the Huskies and the Lions didn't end well, with the Huskies falling 41-26. Despite 55 more yards than the Lions, the Huskies couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Hagerty lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Royce Jenkins, who threw for 338 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 51 yards. Hagerty is 2-1 when Jenkins posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Makiye McBurse was Jenkins' top target, picking up 101 receiving yards and one score.

Even if they lost, Hagerty's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Gavin Miller refused to say out of the backfield, picking up three sacks all by himself. Hagerty got some further help from Miller: he picked up three sacks and made five total tackles.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oviedo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sebastian Galeano, who threw for 285 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes. Those 285 passing yards gave Galeano a new career-high. Oviedo's leading receiver DaShon Febres was Galeano's top target yet again, picking up 170 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Hagerty and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Oviedo, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hagerty will host Lake Brantley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jenkins and Jackson Stecher. As for Oviedo, they will challenge Lake Howell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Galeano and Brycen Marbrey.
