Volleyball Recap: Discovery Canyon Comes Up Short

Discovery Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Air Academy Kadets. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Kadets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Discovery Canyon started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 26-24, 25-11, 25-19.

Lexi Haughian paced Discovery Canyon's offense, picking up 15 kills. Haughian got some help from Ava Grimm and her 15 assists. Aria Cruz controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Shelbe Lyons was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 17 digs and four assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Discovery Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Air Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 6-4 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Discovery Canyon is set to challenge their familiar foe Cheyenne Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Air Academy will take on rival Palmer Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
