Recap: Wooster Colts vs. Dayton Dust Devils

The Wooster Colts won the last time they faced the Dayton Dust Devils, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Wooster walked away with a 61-54 victory over Dayton.

Wooster had a senior duo take command as Jamal Gaitor scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and Jared Marquicias scored 20 points. The matchup was Gaitor's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Fernando Cisneros, who scored 12 points.

Dayton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Talan Brown, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, and Tristan Dums who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Brown scored a full 35.2% of Dayton's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aidan Kranjcec was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Even though they lost, Dayton were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Wooster is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Dayton, they bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wooster will square off against Elko at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dayton, they will head out on the road to face off against Sparks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sparks focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Wednesday.
