Basketball Recap: Justice Sheppard Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat American

South Dade's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 43-35 victory over the American Patriots. The Buccaneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

South Dade's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justice Sheppard, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Sheppard is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lapatra Warren, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

American's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lajahnique Olive, who posted nine points. Zaria Graneau was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

South Dade's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. As for American, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Dade will venture away from home to take on True North Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for American, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Killian at 5:00 p.m. on January 31st.
