Preview: Juab Wasps vs. Carbon Dinos

Juab is 1-9 against Carbon since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Juab Wasps will head out on the road to take on the Carbon Dinos at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Juab was able to grind out a solid win over Emery, taking the game 60-50. The win made it back-to-back wins for Juab.

Juab can attribute much of their success to Lucy Richards, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Richards has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Hyatt, who scored 12 points.

Meanwhile, Carbon had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They breezed by North Sanpete on the road to the tune of 71-39. Carbon has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 25 points or more this season.

Amiah Timothy was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Carbon's points. Another player making a difference was Madison Orth, who scored ten points along with seven steals.

Juab has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Carbon, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Tuesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Ava Cuff and Timothy. Cuff has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 16.2 points, 1.6 steals, and 4.6 rebounds. For her part, Timothy has averaged 20.4 points, 3.6 steals, and 6 assists.

Juab and Carbon were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but Juab came up empty-handed after a 56-55 defeat. Can Juab avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
