Softball Recap: Apple Valley Comes Up Short

Apple Valley fell victim to Lakeville North and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The defeat leaves the Eagles still looking for their first win of the season.

Amelia Duran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Apple Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ginny Gores, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Gores is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Apple Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lakeville North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apple Valley will face off against Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Lakeville North, they will challenge Eastview at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lightning will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
